I left my house for the first time since the dreaded panini (if you know, you know) began early 2020 to go to Disney World in Orlando! We usually go every year for Christmas so not going for awhile makes me feel so empty inside. So that just made it EVEN BETTER when we snagged a good deal and took a trip! It also just so happened to be during the 50th anniversary, so there were a lot of bonuses. On top of all that, I got to see a couple friends while I was there which made the experience all the better!
We decided to drive to avoid any airport stress & save some money but oh boy does it come with a price. The whole drive from Houston to Orlando took around 16 hours with only a couple of bathroom & food stops sprinkled in. In the end, we arrived in one piece (although some of my soul I will never get back from that car ride) and we got a good night’s rest because we were showing up BRIGHT & EARLY the next day for Magic Kingdom!
I absolutely loved all the Halloween and Autumn decor. Seeing that many pumpkins in one place could make anyone smile. The lines for the rides were not too long either. Longest we waited was probably around 30 minutes (which in Disney World time is pretty good). So we got to ride all the classics, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain (a wonderful choice in the Florida heat), Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, you name it! All except the 7 Dwarfs Mine Train…that line for that sucker was 60min + all day! I spent my extra time buying some Disney Halloween goodies!
If I could’ve found a way to stuff all of this Halloween merchandise in my suitcase, I would’ve taken it all. I did end up buying the pillow and the Spirit Jersey because they were too cute to pass up. I have no regrets, they are perfect. The 50th anniversary was happening while we were here which meant the castle was BEAUTIFULLY done in pink and blue! I took so many photos of this castle, one just wasn’t going to be enough. If I was a Disney princess and got to design my own castle, THIS is exactly what I would choose to live out my glamorous Disney princess days.
We also had to go to Hollywood Studios, my second favorite park! This was a TOASTY day, I didn’t even know I was capable of sweating that much but trust me, Florida will make it happen. Even with the heat, we still had a really amazing time. We got a spot on the virtual queue for Rise of the Resistance and this was such a cool experience. This goes on the MUST DO list for anytime we’re in Hollywood Studios now. Put this on your list too! Just trust me on this one.
If you want to see a full video experience of my trip, I posted a vlog all about it! 🙂
